Whidbey Island Democratic
Club (WIDC)
The Whidbey Island Democratic Club will have a general
membership meeting on Wednesday evening, June 4 at 7 p.m.
at Room 306, Oak Hall at Skagit Valley College in Oak Harbor.
Featured speaker will be Oak Harborite Yseldah Applegate, who
is a registered nurse with 38 years experience. She is a retired
Commander Navy Nurse with 23 years experience in varied
Mrs. Applegate's focus will be on her work with Hurricane
Katrina Disaster Relief in November 2005, with the Mississippi Gulf
Coast Headquarters in Gulfport, Ms. days # 79-#94 of the disaster.
She will have pictures and stories of these and other calamatous
situations she's volunteered to help.
The public is invited. There is no charge, there will be refreshments.

The club was founded in
March of 1997 as a politically active group to stimulate interest in
Democratic principles. We act as talent scout for candidates and conduct
fund raising events.
Our members have door belled, written letters, participated in parades and
had kick offs for Democratic candidates. We have been involved in
get-out-the-vote campaigns and voter registration efforts. We also conduct
Public Forums on many issues such as Healthcare, Global warming, separation
of church and state, just to name a few.
The Club is a source of important political information and human
resources. We work closely with the Island County Democratic Central
Committee (ICDCC, the official Democratic organization in Island County).
