Following the Democratic Convention in Denver, people around the country, and especially here in Island County, are excited and energized by the upcoming election in November. While we have accomplished much, there is still a lot of work to do to ensure that our candidates are successful. We are indeed fortunate to have outstanding individuals willing to make the sacrifices needed to run for public office. Our five local candidates in particular, Senator Mary Margaret Haugen, Tim Knue, Patricia Terry, Angie Homola and Helen Price Johnson, deserve special kudos for their Primary Election accomplishments.
Many of our candidates are now in very close races. They need our time, effort and money to win.
Let’s give it to them. The election calendar is tight - there are only 66 days left until November 4th, and the mail-in ballots go out the week of October 13th.
If you want to contribute much needed funds or volunteer, please check out their individual websites on our Home Page.
I am sure they would be grateful for any assistance.

P.S: The Island County Democrats could also use your support for our newly opened Head Quarters in Oak Harbor. It is the first time in 40 years that we have had a “Democratic Home” in Island County. If you wish to contribute an item or spend some time staffing our “office,” please contact Jan Helwig at helwig@oakharbor.net as soon as possible.
